The Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain – Africa (CARISCA) at KNUST invites eligible candidates in Ghana to apply for scholarship awards for study in supply chain master’s degree programmes (MSc/MPhil) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Business in the 2022/2023 academic year.
CARISCA is a partnership between KNUST and Arizona State University (ASU) in the United States with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). CARISCA’s key objective is to support higher education institutions in building the capacity necessary to provide best-in-class degree programs and training, facilitate research translation and utilization, and engage stakeholders in best practices and policy changes that strengthen supply chains.
Categories of scholarship awards available
The scholarship awards include full, partial and fee waiver awards. Awards depend upon the applicant’s financial needs as determined by the scholarship award committee.
- Tuition fees and other charges waiver
- Monthly stipend
- Hostel accommodation
- Research grants (fieldwork, data analysis, etc.)

Scholarship requirements:
In conformity with the entry requirement at KNUST, successful candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with first-class or second-class (upper-division) honours in Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences or related disciplines
- An internationally recognized Certificate of Proficiency in the English Language (e.g., TOEFL or IELTS) with an above-average score is required for applicants whose bachelor’s degree is not in English
Additionally, all successful applicants are required to:
- Demonstrate financial need
- Hold citizenship of Ghana Complete and submit a Scholarship Application form
- Complete and submit a financial needs assessment form
Commit to full-time availability for the entire period of study, including weekend classes and examinations
Applicants should submit these supporting documents and additional information:
- Completed scholarship application form
- Completed financial needs assessment form
- Curriculum vitae (two pages maximum)
- Two reference letters from previous academic institutions
- Proof of English proficiency (only for applicants whose bachelor’s degree was not in English)
- Official transcripts for bachelor’s degree
- Certified copies of official bachelor’s degree certificate
- Soft copy of a letter of motivation (max. one page) with the heading “CARISCA Scholarship Award” outlining answers to the following:
- Why are you interested in supply chain management?
- What experiences do you have that prepare you for research in supply chain management?
- Why do you need financial support to be able to successfully complete a master’s degree programme?
- How will admission into this programme fit into your professional goals?
- How will your community benefit from your training on this programme?
- You may include other relevant information and/or experience that support your application.
NOTE
- Application deadline is 5.00 pm Friday, October 14th, 2022.
- Kindly upload your supporting documents in a single zip file. Supporting documents in French must include an official English translation.
- Ineligible, incomplete or late applications will not be processed.
- Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview on a date and at a venue to be confirmed.
