The Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain – Africa (CARISCA) has been leading the charge to advance supply chain management innovation, research, education and capacity development in Africa.
CARISCA was founded in 2020 as a collaborative project between Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Arizona State University (ASU).
Together, we have led the Centre to advance supply chain innovations and push the boundaries of academic, practitioner, and policy research. We have also provided scholarship awards to Africans from diverse backgrounds and built the capacity of professionals across Africa.
Recent challenges with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) temporarily paused our operations. However, we are proud to announce that we have successfully transitioned into a pan-African Centre of Excellence at KNUST.
“The CARISCA team is committed to and excited about the opportunity to make an impact on the supply chain landscape in Africa,” says Professor Nathaniel Boso, founding Centre Director.
The Centre’s commitment to advancing supply chain innovation, research, education and capacity building across Africa is still a priority. CARISCA continues to support government agencies, businesses, and organizations across Africa to build resilient and efficient supply chains.
“The journey to making that impact has just begun,” Prof. Boso added.
“We are grateful to the generosity of the American people for their initial seed funding for the Centre,” he stated. “We look forward to partnering with other organizations and funding bodies to further advance Africa’s supply chains.”
As a Centre of Excellence, we are uniquely positioned to expand our initiatives and provide greater support to supply chain professionals across Africa. Our flagship programs—including the Supply Chain Annual Research Summit and Business Forum—will continue, along with our ongoing capacity-building workshops and training programs.
We look forward to shaping the future of supply chains in Africa through innovation, education, research and collaboration.
