Call for Submissions: IJOPM–CARISCA Paper Development Workshop (PDW) 2026
The Africa Initiative of the International Journal of Operations & Production Management (IJOPM), in collaboration with CARISCA, invites Africa-based researchers to submit working papers for its 2026 Paper Development Workshop (PDW).
The PDW will take place during the 2026 Supply Chain Research Summit in Accra, Ghana (July 6–8, 2026) and is designed to help scholars strengthen theoretically grounded, empirical papers for publication in leading logistics, operations, and supply chain management (OSCM) journals.

2026 PhD Dissertation Awards Competition
The 2026 Supply Chain Research Summit program committee is pleased to announce a call for papers for the best PhD dissertation proposal.
CARISCA will award a winner and two runner-ups at the 2026 summit in Accra, Ghana, “Transforming Supply Chains in Africa in the Age of AI,” July 6-8. The dissertation committee will also provide feedback on submissions upon request.

CARISCA Partners with ISCEA to Expand Access to Global Supply Chain Certification in Ghana
The Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain-Africa (CARISCA) has established a strategic collaboration with the International Supply Chain Education Alliance (ISCEA), USA. Strengthening supply chain education is a core part of CARISCA’s mandate, recognising professional training and capacity development as a pathway to addressing Africa’s supply chain challenges.

Call for Papers- 2026 Supply Chain Research Summit
On July 6-8, 2026, CARISCA will host the sixth Annual Supply Chain Research Summit in Ghana. The 2025 summit, held in Lagos, Nigeria, attracted approximately 350 participants from 17 countries, 87 institutions, and 38 higher education institutions worldwide, featuring more than 81 presentations.

Five Years of CARISCA Research: Building Capacity, Advancing Knowledge
CARISCA’s latest research report shows strong publication quality, with nearly half of all outputs appearing in ABS-ranked journals and 50% in top-tier SJR Q1 journals. These results reflect the Center’s growing contribution to high-impact, peer-reviewed research recognized by leading international standards.

AfCFTA FRAMEWORK IMPLEMENTATION PAIN POINTS: INSIGHTS FROM THE ABIDJAN-LAGOS TRADE CORRIDOR
The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) was launched in 2021 to create a unified, continent-wide market, to facilitate the free movement of goods, services, people, and capital. According to UNECA’s 2023 report, AfCFTA seeks to significantly boost formal intra-African trade well beyond the currently estimated volume of only 16% of total cross-border trade by reducing or eliminating, where possible, tariffs and non-tariff barriers among member states.
