Dr. John Manso Frimpong is a lecturer at the Supply Chain and Information Systems Department and holds a PhD in Procurement and Supply Chain Management. He has several publications in procurement and supply chain. Among his research works are “An Evaluation of Downstream Supply Chain Management Practices in the Oil and Gas Industry of Ghana” and “E-Procurement Assimilation, Procurement Process and Value for Money in the Public Sector: Investigating the Role of Influence Mechanisms and Absorptive Capacity.” In curriculum development, Dr. Frimpong was instrumental in designing the KNUST’s curricula in the MSc. Procurement and Supply Chain Management and MSc. Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He is currently designing an MSc. Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management curricula for KNUST. He has also been the coordinator for all postgraduate programs in logistics, supply chain and procurement at the Distance Learning Centre of KNUST. He is currently the chairman of the procurement committee at KNUST Business School. Dr. Frimpong is currently supervising two PhD students. He has over the years supervised more than 250 MPhil/MSc. students in Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain. On the consultancy front he has done several works in the area of Purchasing Practices of Informal Enterprises and value chain analysis in the African Context
Dr. Frimpong has been involved in a number of projects either as a team lead or a member of the team of experts. He was a lead investigator of a study dubbed “Purchasing Practices of Informal Enterprises” funded by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KNUST, and recently the team lead and value chain expert on Kente value chain project funded by the Rural Enterprise Project of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Currently, he is the Senior Technical Advisor on continuing executive education and development for CARISCA. He is responsible for conducting need analysis and skill gap assessment, uses the information to plan and organize training programs for executives in health and agricultural supply chains in Ghana and Africa. As part of the project, he assists in designing and implementing interventions to assist women and other marginalized groups in the agricultural supply chain.
