The Global Health Supply Chain program for Procurement and Supply Management project (GHSC-PSM) is implemented by Chemonics. The GHSC-PSM is currently procuring health commodities and providing health system strengthening technical assistance which includes the implementation of a Logistics Management Information Systems (LMIS) or “Control Tower” called GhiLMIS in Ghanaian public health sector. The meeting will discuss how CARISCA and GHSC-PSM can collaborate to improve health supply chains in Ghana.

DESCRIPTION:CARISCA will hold its maiden Supply Chain Action Laboratory Engagement (SCALE) meeting on 18th November 2020 at 2:00pm. Due to the COVID- 19 pandemic\, this event would be held virtually on Zoom. \n\nCARISCA will leverage SCALE Sessions to engage the Government of Ghana in focused activities on formulating research-based supply and procurement policies that improve and reinforce the Public Procurement Authority’s existing approach. \nSCALE is a mechanism which allows innovative and scalable collaborative projects to strengthen supply chains\, by providing funding and technical assistance to maximize the likelihood of success and widespread uptake. \nSCALE strives to convene; \n\nPractitioners from the private sector\, governments\, and civil society organisations to discuss supply chain challenges and opportunities;\n Researchers from KNUST\, ASU\, and CARISCA affiliates from other higher education institutions\, including faculty\, graduate students\, and selected undergraduate students will provide expertise in helping to solve these problems\nLocal and multinational private companies\, including our private sector and CSO partners that bring access to networks\, technology\, and real-world best practices.

Bensah is Deputy Executive Director of AfCFTA Policy Network\, with responsibility for African Union (AU) Policy Programming; Outreach and Partnerships. He is also an ECOWAS and AU Policy Analyst with cumulative experience in the African Union\, ECOWAS\, UNECA\, OECD and Sahel West Africa Club. He has been a member of the Agenda 2063 Media Network since 2017 and the African Peer Review Mechanism Communicator’s Network since May 2019.  \nBensah has an M.A. in International Politics from the renowned Brussels-based Centre Européen de Récherche Internationales et Stratégiques and has UN certification in Regional Trade (2011); Continental Free Trade Area (2012); and acquired a UNITAR/ECOWAS certificate on Multilateral Trade Negotiations. \nBensah was the first journalist to interview Chief Technical Advisor of the AfCFTA Negotiations Prudence Sebahizi on what was then CFTA. He has moderated at international conferences\, including AU’s Regional Youth Consultation in Abuja; NEPAD’s Africa Environment Partnership Programme (AEPP) in Nairobi; and in Dakar\, where he moderated a session on “Institutional Architecture of the African Continental Free Trade Area” (AfCFTA) at a Stakeholder’s Forum for Private Sector and Civil Society. In 2019\, He was asked to moderate the Second Edition of the Arusha Symposium\, which focused on AfCFTA and the AU’s Free Movement of People Protocol. \n  \nProfessor Jonathan Annan \n \nProfessor Jonathan Annan is an Associate Professor of Operations\, Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the prestigious Strathmore University Business School in Nairobi\, Kenya. His research focuses on the interface between Transport Operations\, Logistics\, Project Management\, Sustainability and Supply Chain Management. His research has won multiple awards including the 2017 Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy Best Conference paper. Jonathan has published in leading scholarly journals such as the International Journal of Production Economics\, Journal of Business Research\, Psychology and Marketing\, Industrial Marketing Management and Thunderbird International Business Review. \nHe holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics\, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education\, Master’s Degree in Industrial Management and a Doctor of Philosophy in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He is the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institute of Project Management Professionals (IPMP) and a Distinguished Fellow Member of IPMP. He is also a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT\, UK). She has worked with leading sustainability companies in the automotive\, electronics\, consumer product\, pharmaceutical\, fashion and food sectors on how they can diffuse their environmental and labor practices to their first-\, second-and third-tier suppliers. Her research explores the challenges companies face in cascading their environmental and labor requirements to these upstream suppliers while informing the reasons why suppliers do not fulfill such requirements. She has done extensive grounded research in several emerging/developing countries and worked with industry organizations and NGOs to better understand the environmental and labor conditions in supplier factories. \nShe won the 2019 Jack Meredith Best Paper award at the Journal of Operations Management and the Chan Hahn Best Paper Award of the Academy of Management (OSCM division) in 2016 and 2020. Her work has been published in a variety of prestigious journals\, including Journal of Operations Management\, Production and Operations Management\, Journal of Management\, Journal of Supply Chain Management\, and Decision Sciences. She also publishes in managerial outlets such as Harvard Business Review and Supply Chain Management Review. She currently serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Operations Management and a senior editor for Production and Operations Management.
