SUMMARY:Systematic Literature Reviews: the Who\, How\, What\, Why and When
DESCRIPTION:Register Now \nA systematic literature review is one of many research methods available to academic scholars. It involves identifying and evaluating relevant literature on a selected topic of study. \nUnlike a common literature review conducted for projects employing other research approaches\, a systematic literature review is an independent research method. It is a reproducible and empirically valid approach to understanding patterns\, findings and potential gaps in knowledge. \nOn Aug. 16\, Arizona State University Professor Craig Carter will lead a virtual workshop\, part of the CARISCA Training Series\, on how to conduct systematic literature reviews. \nHis presentation will cover the who\, how\, what\, why and when of the topic. Carter will describe a step-by-step approach to the methodology\, suggest guidelines and work through an actual example. \nThis presentation will serve as a foundation for a second training workshop on Aug. 30\, on meta-analysis\, a subset of systematic literature reviews. At the Aug. 16 training\, Carter will suggest guidelines that will help researchers understand how to conduct meta-analyses—a methodologically rigorous\, and possible more interesting\, literature review. \nAbout the speaker:\nCraig R. Carter is the John G. and Barbara A. Bebbling Professor of Supply Chain Management at Arizona State University. He also directs the SCM Behavioral Lab and is a Fearon Fellow at CAPS Research. \nCarter’s primary research stream focuses on sustainable supply chain management. A second area of research examines behavioral decision-making phenomena within supply management contexts. \nHe also is interested in analyzing the status and evolution of research in the supply chain management discipline. He provides guidance and thought leadership regarding future research directions. \nHis research has appeared in the leading supply chain management journals\, including the Journal of Business Logistics\, Journal of Operations Management and Journal of Supply Chain Management. Carter is editor emeritus and an advising editor for the Journal of Supply Chain Management\, a senior editor for the Journal of Business Logistics\, and an associate editor for the Journal of Operations Management and the Decision Sciences Journal.
